The Maura Rae Kuhl AED Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in February, 2010 to meet the needs of raising funds and placing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in our schools and hopefully spreading to placing them in other public places where our children frequent. The Foundation is named in the memory of Maura Rae Kuhl. She was a beautiful 3 day old when on Labor Day weekend in September 2003, Jess Kuhl and his wife, Mary, woke up to every parent’s worst nightmare: Their three-day-old daughter had died suddenly and without warning.
Undetected cardiac issues are becoming more common place among our young. Illnesses such as Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (LVH), Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, and Electrical issues such as Long QT Syndrome can result in Sudden Cardiac Arrest. In the majority of these cases the first symptom becomes the last symptom. Early Cardiac Defibrillation and CPR is the answer.
We work towards this goal because our prayer is that no parent has to endure the pain of losing a child.
